Fiji Tours & Holiday Packages
Anyone that’s been to Fiji finds it hard to forget. It’s not the palm trees, the idyllic beaches
and lagoons, the sunshine and warmth, and it’s not the beautiful
waters. The overwhelming memory you will take from Fiji is the friendship freely offered by all Fijians. And
the big toothy grins as they yell ‘Bula’ as you even marginally enter earshot. Happiness and great cheer is so
much a part of Fiji that it should be on the flag.
There are many regions worth exploring in Fiji, but my favourite is always the Coral Coast. Yes I know there are
a million brand spanking new properties around Denerau – rushing in after the reported popularity of the time-share
redevelopers - but the Coral Coast has its own charm, character and seems just about one of the friendliest parts
of all Fiji. There are set areas that will appeal to different people for different reasons, and Fiji is a place
that you can keep going back to, so why not investigate them all?
There are two main islands that make up Fiji, and then a collection of
smaller islands aligned into two separate groupings. The main entry point for Australians heading to Fiji is
Nadi, located on the lower of the two large islands, Viti Levu. Don’t stay here. Without being overly harsh,
it’s NOT the Fiji you imagine or wish to experience. From here it’s a short trip to the port of Denerau –
where you can head to the Mamanuca Islands – or better yet, head to the idyllic Coral Coast.
Once you’re located in Fiji remember it’s a fairly ‘resort-centric’ destination – so pick a resort that has a
lot of facilities. My two top picks are the Shangri-La Fijian Resort and the Outrigger. One has the most
extraordinary resort, the other has the most extraordinary food! Each pips the other at the post with many
different features with both being havens of excellence. There are other resorts on
the Coral Coast, but they are far, far behind these two Pacific gems.
My top tip for Fiji? If you’re keen on a relaxing massage, book in early! They regularly book out.
If you’d like to experience island life, there are many great options with my personal favourite being Mana Island
– once again high on the Friendliness Quotient!
If luxury or special occasion is what is drawing you to Fiji, head north to the other large island, Vanua Levu,
and you won’t be disappointed. There are two stand out choices in the north of Fiji, Jean-Michel Cousteau’s Resort
and Namale, owned by Tony Robbins. These two resorts are internationally acclaimed and the perfect spot for
that unforgettable getaway.
One more resort hits the heights – particularly for a Honeymoon. The Royal Davui with its exclusive adults-only
sanctuary contains only 16 beautifully appointed villas – each with their own personal plunge pool. Ah... take me
away.
