Traveling To Alberta Canada?
Alberta is one of the most fascinating parts of Canada. I’ll even trump that statement by saying that Alberta is
one of the most fascinating parts of the world.
The wonderful thing about Alberta is it’s known for its extraordinary landscapes, wildly rugged wilderness,
pristine lakes, and friendly people – whether it’s renowned Calgary white hat hospitality, or mountain charm.
Whether you’re touring through Alberta, fishing in a boat on a calm lake, snow-shoeing through the Rockies, or
chuckling your way through the riotous and world-famous Stampede, Alberta is a rare gift just waiting to be
unwrapped.
Here are some of the beautiful destinations in Alberta.

BANFF
I must make a confession first and foremost. I’m physically unable to give you an objective
appraisal of certain spots in the world. Cities and towns that have great personal meaning to me
don’t lend themselves to unbiased reviews. I can’t give you independent advice about Paris, I can’t
speak dispassionately about the Statue of Liberty or the temples of Angkor Wat; nor can I be
unemotional about this little cosy town in the Rocky Mountains. Read More

LAKE LOUISE
One of the main reasons people from all over the world visit Lake Louise is because of the
beautiful waters and the Rockies of Alberta. Even though the surrounding areas along with the great
lake have become one of the most photographed ranges, nothing quite prepares you for the unearthly
beauty of what it truly feels like when you are looking over the vast area for yourself.

Many people first encounter Alberta on the Rocky Mountaineer. If you’re heading through to Banff (the Kicking
Horse Route) keep your eyes peeled for the legendary Spiral Tunnels. If you’re on the Jasper route (the Yellowhead
route), look out for Mt. Robson, and the Paramount mountain.
Speaking of the Rocky Mountaineer, you may well get a giggle – as I did – with this excerpt from the Rocky
Mountaineer guide, “Social Networking is big onboard Rocky Mountaineer. Except here it actually involves
face-to-face encounters with real live human beings. Status updates are also part of the experience – only we call
them “conversations”. No doubt you’ll enjoy lots of these.”
Magnificent Lake Louise and Banff often steal the limelight in Alberta, but don’t be fooled; Jasper has more
than enough going for it to make you linger longer. Mt Edith Cavell and the gorgeous Lac Beauvert (which has
the sublime Jasper Park Lodge perched on its banks), are just the beginning of the journey in this wilderness
jewel.
Don’t think that Alberta is only wilderness. Edmonton and Calgary are two very different experiences with their
very own luster and character (just ask their hockey teams, the Oilers and the Flames – remember, ice hockey
approaches the status of religion in Canada. Woe betide the Olympic team that dares lose with a red maple leaf on
their chests!).
Edmonton is the more northern of the two cities and with its monumental winter temperature lows, is home to the
world’s most famous (because it’s underground) shopping mall. Believe it or not, there is a roller coaster inside
the mall!
Calgary is the home of white hat hospitality (I guarantee you’ll never forget your first white cowboy hat). In
July, the Stampede comes to town. Bull riding, chuck wagon raising, unprecedented rodeo skill, and ... Pancakes!
Who could ask for more! Here’s a tip, don’t get caught wearing a tie... I’ll explain later.
Above all, you will see more in depth description of these destinations in our Alberta sections, just click on
